Downlink Cell-Free Fixed Wireless Access: Architectures, Physical Realities, and Research Opportunities

چکیده

Recently, a new paradigm of wireless access, termed as cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), has drawn significant research interest. Its primary distinction from conventional MIMO aided cellular networks is the ability to eliminate detrimental inter-cell interference (ICI), or convert ICI, into extra power for intended signal via multi-cell cooperation approach originated network MIMO. However, information-theoretical limit access achieved at expense large configuration overhead and high processing complexity. Because dynamic nature channels, global channel state information (CSI) invoked quickly becomes outdated, leading performance degradation. This article focuses on implementation fixed (FWA), complementary solution fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) where latter prohibitively expensive. In particular, we discuss centralization architectures characteristics FWA, well their joint implications imperfect CSI performance. Moreover, measurement-based offline simulations show that long coherence time (‘quasi-static’) assumption real-world FWA channels only valid against completely motionless background, and, thus, it should not be used in system design analysis. Finally, present opportunities terms physical infrastructure, data processing, machine learning.

Architectures for wireless ATM access

This paper presents a study on possible architecture design concepts for integrating wireless networks with ATM technology. We discuss four different solutions for wireless ATM access, starting with transparent cell-relaying over the air interface, thereafter focussing on ATMand AAL-based interworking concepts, and finally discussing proxy approaches. Our analyses show that the performance bene...

Feasibility of Fixed Wireless Access

Fixed wireless access has the unrealized potential to play a major role in the adoption of broadband in the U. S. We conduct a case study of the feasibility of business in a suburban U. S. community and conclude that with a preference for the use of licensed spectrum, such a small scale, grass roots business would be feasible. This opens the question of promoting the economic availability of li...

Integrated Wireless-PON Access Network Architectures

Integrated Wireless-PON Access Network Architectures i Abstract Next generation access networks should be able to cultivate the ongoing evolution in services and applications. Advancements on that front are expected to exhibit the transformation of high definition television (HDTV) and 2D services into ultra-HDTV and individual interactive 3D services. Currently deployed passive optical network...

Modular IP Architectures For Wireless Mobile Access

This paper describes the architecture of the BRAIN network layer. Firstly, the overall design approach is discussed, with comparison to the current paradigms of GSM/UMTS and the Internet. Next, the top-level architecture is presented, first looking at the way the access network fits into the end to end communication path, and then looking at current work on the internal structure of the network...

Channel Allocation for Broadband Fixed Wireless Access

Existing channel allocation methods are usually implemented for voice oriented services where the aim is to reduce the call blocking and call dropping rate. In this paper, we will investigate channel allocation schemes appropriate for data oriented services in a Broadband Fixed Wireless Access network where the aim is to reduce interference and improve overall packet throughput. A Fixed Channel...
